International Coach Federation (IFC) has identified the following as the Coaching Core Competencies and Ethics.
As a member of the IFC I keep my practice within these guidelines.


Core Competencies:

6. Powerful questioning
7. Direct Communication
8. Creating awareness
9. Designing actions

Code of Ethics:
Definitions From Part One, Section 1:

Definition of Coaching: Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

Professional Coaching Relationship: A professional coaching relationship exists when coaching includes a business agreement or contract that defines the responsibilities of each party.

ICF Professional Coach: An ICF Professional Coach also agrees to practice the ICF Professional Core Competencies and pledges accountability to the ICF Code of Ethics.
